Rocky Mountain Elk (Wapiti) is the biggest animal in the deer family. The males are called bulls, the females are called cows, and the baby elk are called calfs. The average bull elk weighs about 710 to 730 pounds when mature, while the average cow elk weighs 500 to 520 pounds when mature.
